...Continued

and the day kept getting worse... The 'x' called me, and I didn't even know it was her. Not saying that I wouldn't have answered had I known, but tomorrow would have been a month without talking to her!! I kind of looked forward to having that under my belt, but I guess I can always start the count over again. She called to tell me when her farewell is. Should I go? I don't think I'm gonna. I'm so broke right now, plus if I were to take a road trip, I'd rather go see the new kid. Brooke, any ideas?! I'm excited for you and Angela to come out and visit! What days again, and are you driving or flying?

One of those days...

Its just one of those days you don't want to wake up... It started out well enough. now its nearly 7:30 and I wish I were done. Only three more hours or so of homework. I havn't eaten dinner yet. I'd like to file my taxes, but I don't have all my W-2's yet. I'd like to be dating a certain someone, but its gotten a little awkward due to the friendship factor. How come we (and when I say we, I mean the whole human race cause I don't think I'm alone in this) can't just tell other people that we like them and want to date them? I'd like to be riding the motorbike, but the weather is still too snowy. I'd like to be wealthy so I could go out more. I'd like to be done school so I wouldn't have to worry about grades. Even with all this, life is still good. I just have to remember the good times, like that time I got stuck three times in one day and pushed my self out each time by leaving the truck in gear with the tires spinning and getting out to push and then when it started moving, jumping back in to get the brakes. I did all that in a suit, no less. Its days like that that make up for these downer days. Amen?

To 'DI' For!

Any of y'all ever heard of D.I.? D.I. truly is one of the best creations known to man. D.I. is the equivalent of Catholic Charities Thrift Store, only its the mormon version. Its clean, fairly well organized and last but defiantely not least, its cheap... most of the time. If your looking for your religion class or institute text books, thats the place to go. You can save up to 2.50, and when the original price is 3.00 anywhere else, that means your getting one heck of a deal!

Anywho, the point of this post is this. 8 months ago, I purchased a sweet cell phone for 1 dollar! I activated it, did some work to it and have now used it for 8 months. We've played hackey sack with it, I soaked in one of our hookeybobbing adventures, I shattered the screen rolling over a car hood, needless to say its been through alot. Today, as my roommate and I journeyed to D.I. and became the 4th and 5th customers of the day, I found a replacement for my cell phone. Inflation hit, however. Just as the ties have steadily increased from one dollar to three, so to have the cell phones. As they say, beggars can't be choosers. I guess I can be happy with paying three bucks for a cell phone that looks like new and hopefully works like new, too!

On anothere note. School is going good. I just wrote my first program in C++ yesterday. Not to bad at all! Not too brag or anything, but it only took me about 45 minutes. I was pretty surprised at myself. maybe I really am learning something form all those physics classes and its making me smarter in the lower level classes!

Kade Orrin Turner

Soooooooo, for those of you who know and or care, my bro and his wife (mostly his wife) gave birth to a baby boy today! Not only that, but they named him after me! Well, actually after my great grandpa, but its my middle name too. Anywho, he was 7 lbs 14 oz and had a big nose. I don't even know what time he was born at. Doug called me while I was working in the tutoring lab and told me and then we got on the topic of trucks. That last post was the topic of conversation. Anywho, I'll get y'all some pictures of the little gunner and his big bro now. Isaac is 2 years and 4 months, so I'm sure there will be some adaptation for him. Arn't kids great though? I can't wait till I have some little tikes running around. Anywho, tally ho to all you faithful readers (Brooke, thats you)!!

Whoops!!!

Whoops!! They said they were trying to out jump the dirtbikes. They cleared the landing by 54 feet. Looks like it was well worth it for the story!! Check out more at www.4wheeloffroad.com/whoops/.

"...When therefore, constitutional law, obedient to these principles, calls the manhood of the church into the armed services of any country to which they owe allegiance, their highest civic duty requires that they meet that call. If, harkening to that call and obeying those in command over them, they shall take the lives of those who fight against them, that will not make of them murderers nor subject them to the penalty that God has prescribed for those who kill,... For it would be a cruel God that would punish his children as moral sinners for acts done by them as the innocent instrumentalities of a sovereing whom he had told them to obey and whom they were powerless to resist."

Anywho, It was a blast! 19 of us piled into four cars, headed out to Island Park, and hit the fields. We made it about 4 miles or so, found a sweet slide, got some sweet air, had some sweet hot cocoa, watched a sweet movie at a sweet cabin, etc. I got stuck pretty sweet three times in my sweet truck too. Pretty darn cool! Any of you that want to try it out, definately give it a go in the snow. Its pretty sweet!!!!

The Fight...

So... just got back from a hockey game. Saw a sweet fight. We was right up on the boards yelling at the guys, cheerin em on. I told him to pinch the guys nipple. Don't know if he didn't hear or jsut didn't think he could get it through the pads, but it didn't look like he tried it. Pretty sweet thoguh!! At least the 8 bucks wasn't wasted. We didn't see blood, but we did see a fight.

The DT

I already mentioned the DT 175 that I picked up at Christmas time, but let me give ya a little taste of the work I did on it before it became usuable.

First things first, it was seized up bad! After I pulled the seat, tank, exhaust pipe, and carb, I finally got to the head. the first glance at the cylinder almost made me blow chunks!! (not really, but it sounds alot more dramatic that way eh?) Anywho, it was pretty bad. There was rust and corrosion all over everything. I soaked it in WD-40 but to no avail. After a full day of soaking it and trying to pound it with a block of wood while heating it, I lost my patience. My brother and I put a hammer right on the piston and started pounding. It pmoved ever so slightly, but eventually it was far enough out that we could get at the wrist pin. This released the cylinder and piston from the crankshaft so that we could work on it on the workbench. A few more good solid hits to the piston and it was broke free.

Now came the task of cleaning everything up. The piston was wire brushed and teh cylinder was wiped out as best we could. The crank was full of rust too, se we took it to the carwash and blasted it with water, then cooked it witha torch to get all that water out of there before reassembly. I had to build a base agsket for it, had to file some chucnk of the cylinder wall that became existant when I got a little carried away with the hammer, and had to clean up some threads that we buggered up in our extreme engineering practices.

By about 2 in the morning, I had done about all I could do on the engine. The carb was clean and put back on but the kickstart was broke in the inital attempts to break the engine free. With that said, the rear wheel was seized so we couldn't even push start dern thing. The bed called my name and so I bid the bike adieu till the next mroning.

After waking up, we were able to get the brakes pulled apart with only moderate damage to the hub. We disconnected everything down there so that it would be possible to push start the bike. The test run came about 11 oclock or so. Believe it or not, it ran! It didn't start right up, and it ran really rough, but it did run and we were able to cruise around the church parking lot a little bit. After a few more hours and a few more parts and dollars, it now runs to a fairly good degree. Once again, I still can't get the pics off my camera, so when I do, I'll post em. See ya!

Dots

Anyone else really enjoy Dots?! Arn't they the best?!

So, Rexburg Idaho. It sure is changing. School starts tomorrow after a three week Christmas break. Its pretty exciting, buts its pretty sad at the same time. Rexburg really takes on a different shape during the class season. For example, for the last week that I've been here, theres been a grand total of 25 (maybe a few more...) students! Thats mostly all the international students that can't get out of the country cause they're waiting on their papers, visas, etc. Then theres the kids that actually live in this area. Cool enough, but I feel so bad that they can never get away! Anywho, I came back about a week early. It has been so relaxing! I fixed my car, my dirtbike, my streetbike, and my Dual sport bike. Yep, three motorbikes, a car and a truck. Rexburg really is boring if you don't have the right tools, and for me, those tools are pretty big. The three motorbikes each serve an indiviual purpose in my life but at the same time can and do serve the same purpose. They're unified in the purpose of easing my frustrations and clearing my head. I've never had anything that can clear my head as fast as a 10 minute bike ride with the throttle wide open. Now, the streetbike is big. Its a 1200 cc contraption that'll do

over 100 mph fairly easy, plus its comfortable. Its the road tripper. The dirtbike is an RM 370. Its the oldest of the three, but by far the funnest! It'll do about 85 or so, and thats down a dirt trail with trees on one side and a cliff on the other. It's not really made for roads, but more for jumping and all that good stuff. Lots of fun. The third one as a christmas purchase. For only twenty bucks, I got a 1979 DT 175. Its a little dual purposed bike. Its made to go on and off road, complete with head, tail and signal lights. Loads of fun!! It actually doesn't quite run right, but it will soon. I figure, for twenty bucks, it can be my winter rider and who cares if you dump it eh? Anywho, I guess the moral of the story is that for me, bikes make rexburg fun. For everyone else, I'm sure its kissing and all that good stuff, which is fun, but... Bike's. Thats where its at.

PS As soon as I can get my camera to hook back up to my computer, I'll put a pick of the DT on.

The secrets we carry

For all you Mormons out there, did you grow up the same as me? You know what I'm talking about. All the Mormon myths about tunnels under BYU. Has anyone ever actually been in them? And why is there only myths about the real BYU and not BYU-I? I'm gonna take the liberty to start some.

There are tunnels everywhere out here!! Not to go into detail about which buildings or who was accomplice to our crimes, but we found tunnels over, under and through buildings. Thats about all I'm gonna say at the risk of incriminating myself and anyone else that was involved. No, its not. I'll say this. You can start underneath the main floor and end up behind the wall and above the ceiling of the main floor. I popped out the ceiling tile and said hi to some folks. Pretty darn exciting!
